Ajanaku’s Closet : Fall

We’re starting a new returning item on Ajanaku. We call it Ajanaku’s Closet.

Think about it, how many times have you seen yourself in the mirror thinking what to wear tonight, what’s the weather, what’s the occasion etc. How does it work? Well we select the theme, make the pics, give our thoughts on styles, products and even give away some of the items we share with you. Double winning! We will also try to throw something personal into the mix, like our favourite flask, ring, penny etc.

We would like start with one of our favourite seasons: Fall. Crispy skies, that low sun in your face, your favourite knit sweater, colours everywhere, biking through the leaves, red hands from the wind that’s slapping your hands like teachers did in the old days. Yes it’s that time of the year, between Summer & Winter and as unpredictable as Kim Kardashian.

Fall has it’s moments. It can be sunny and mild (indian summer-ish), it can rain like rainseason in Thailand, heck it can even snow! With this kind of weather you better dress wisely. Comfortable, not to warm, not to cold, multiple layers and ready to expect rain anytime.

From top left to top right we come across our first items for this Fall frame:

- Saturdays Surf NYC pine green crewneck sweater. This baby is called the Bowery Crew Neck, a classic crewneck sweater with a touch of California. And if it’s not warm enough for you fill your flask with some nice Jameson to warm up.

- The Uniqlo burgundy rib shirt. Known for it’s Japanese style and comfort, Uniqlo made a winner for Fall. Perfect under a bodywarmer/sweater or just button up till the top hipster style. Burgundy rocks in Fall time.

- Some leather gloves. Go see Ryan Gosling in Drive, that’s why.

- The Merckx from dutch label Scotch & Soda. In one word wow… Made from pure green selvedged denim this limited edition slim fit is the only denim you’ll need for Fall. A nice dark denim with loads of special items like the reflective triple X prints in the hems, the World Cup colours back patch, three Amsterdam XXX’s on the back pocket, the green key hanger and a lucky coin. These jeans are perfect for Fall, combine them with a tweed jacket, body warmer, some comfy knit wear, a down jacket or maybe just like in the picture! We continue our journey from the bottom left to bottom right where we meet:

- The Penfield Kasson. This jacket will easily help you through Fall because of it’s water-resistant and windproof fabric so say bye bye to those sudden raindrops blazing from the sky. It’s warm and light and can easily be worn with multiple layers underneath. Functional design is everywhere in this jacket, the zips, warm plaid lining, loads of pocket space on the front and even a hidden one on the back where you can hide some nunchucks out of sight. The cobalt blue makes it pop against the yellow/red/orange of the leaves and the plaid inside almost makes us think of Christmas.

- The Herschel Supply Village backpack is your everyday street style bag. Nice two-tone finish in black and tan with two compartments. A red and white pinstriped main compartment, and a black fleeced lined compartment that holds your laptop (up to 17inch). The front compartment features a seamed waterproof zip ideal to keep your stuff dry for those Fall showers. On top of the Village is a leather carry handle, leather panelling at the bottom of the backpack, and another fleeced lined zip pocket which Herschel describes as storage for your sunglasses or your iPhone, or some golf balls, or one 8-track tape.

- Burlington World Cup socks “Italy“. Basically, these match really well with the blue and green from the jacket and jeans. nuff said. My favourite pair of socks though.

- The Clae Strayhorn, last but not least. We end with some really nice leather semi-casual mids from Clae. Full grain leather in a seemingly basic form. These grey puppies will keep you safe from splashing mud, slippery leaves, blistering cold and of course rain. Again it’s the details that make it a really nice shoe for fall: purple eyelets (matching the Merckx button hole), purple suede inside and tan brown leather patches (same as the backpack) in the sole.

And now to finish this first Ajanaku’s Closet in style.
